Anne Haase Places 12th in USBC Senior Singles Championship

Anne Haase of Dunkirk represented New York State in the USBC Senior Singles Championship held in Las Vegas this week. 


Haase rolled games of 155, 150, 162 for a 465 scratch score and 621 with handicap in her opening round. That put her in 15th place. 


In her second round, she rolled games of 199, 173, 120 for a 492 scratch and 648 handicap. She finished the tournament with a total handicap score of 1269 for 12th place overall in the field of 32 for her division of Women Aged 50-54.

DLBA Meeting Wednesday July 19, 2017

The next meeting of the DLBA will be held Wednesday, July 19 at 7pm at 1st Ward Falcons Club in Dunkirk. Agenda items include Board elections, financial report, committee reports, fundraising update, changes, and plans for 2017-18. Note that meeting was originally planned for Thursday July 20 but was rescheduled for the 19th.


1st Annual DLBA Golf Tournament is Set

The first annual Dunkirk Lakeshore Bowling Association Golf Tournament will be heald on Saturday Augusr 12, 2017 at the Rose Brook Golf Course, Beebe Rd., Silver Creek. Registration will begin at 10 am and a shotgun start will begin at 11 am. The 4-person scramble will award prizes in the men's, women's and mixed divisions. The cost is $75 per person, $300 per team. The entry fee includes golf, cart, on-course contests, lunch at the turn, and appetizers after golf. Chinese auctions and other drawings will add to the fun!Anyone interested may contact P.J. Azzarella at 785-1265 to make a reservation. Checks may be made out to "DLBA" and mailed to P.J. Azzarella, 2369 Agassiz Dr., Lakeview, NY 14085 in advance. Final 2017 DLBA City Tournament Results

The Dunkirk Lakeshore Bowling Association recently concluded its’ annual tournament at Hanover Lanes in Silver Creek.  Hanover Lanes, from Hanover Lanes won the Handicap Team event with a score of 3,614.  Azzarella 4 Plus 1, also from Hanover Lanes finished 2nd with a team score of 3,603.  Fireman’s from K & L Lanes took the Team Scratch honors with a score of 3,273.  DLBA Team, from Lucky Lanes took 2nd with a score of 3,179.


Doubles, singles and all events changed dramatically during week two of the tournament.   Connie Wojcinski and Marie Skubis, from Lucky Lanes, waited until the final day of the tournament to take top honors in the Doubles Handicap division with a score of 1,439.  Tony Houle and Alex Wright, from Hanover Lanes, took 2nd with a score of 1,437.  Mike Krzemien and Brian Schulz, from K & L Lanes took Doubles Scratch with a score of 1,318.  P.J. Azzarella and Justin Zimmerman, from Hanover Lanes were 2nd with a score of 1,302.  In the Singles Handicap division, Ben Montague, from Lucky Lanes, took Singles Handicap with a score of 807.  Terry Gabel, from K & L Lanes, was 2nd with a score of 758.  Brad Bixby, from K & L Lanes, took Singles Scratch with a score of 748.  Ben Montague, from Lucky Lanes, was 2nd with a score of 746.  Ben Montague, from Lucky Lanes, won All Events Handicap with a score of 2,301.  Elliott Adamski, from Hanover Lanes, was 2nd with a score of 2,262.    Ben Montague, from Lucky Lanes, won All Events Scratch with a score of 2,121.  Michael Lucas, from Lucky Lanes, was 2nd with a score of 2,091.

The season wraps up on Saturday, June 3rd with the annual awards banquet to be held at the Fireman’s Club in Silver Creek, NY.  Honor scores, Hall of Fame members, life members and tournament winners are invited at no charge.  Guests may attend at a cost of $15 per person.  Seating is limited. Brad Bixby Wins 2017 DLBA Masters’


Brad Bixby beat P.J. Azzarella 258-227 to win the 2017 Dunkirk Lakeshore Bowling Association Masters’ Tournament, sponsored by Sunset Truck & Auto and Rose Brook Golf Course.  Double elimination match play finals were held this past Sunday at Hanover Lanes in Silver Creek.  Bixby went undefeated in all five matches with scores of 218, 205, 229, 235 and 258 in the Championship match to take the title.  Top qualifier was Brian Schulz with a two day (8 game) total of 1,780.  Steve Dando was the 2nd highest qualifier with a score of 1,767.  With Bixby’s win, he joins Jerry Jesionowski, PJ Azzarella and Paul Pagano as multiple year Masters’ winners.


The Masters’ Tournament now gives way to the 88th Annual DLBA Championships Tournament, also being held at Hanover Lanes.  The tournament runs daily through May 13th.  Space is still available for team, doubles and singles events.  Please contact P.J. DLBA Women's Tournament Results

The second annual Women's Doubles Championship was held on March 18 and 19 at Hanover Lanes in Silver Creek. A total of 21 teams bowled in the handicap event, nearly doubling the number of entries in last year's tournament. 


Prize money was awarded to teams finishing in the top 5 places.

Junior Bowlers Honor Priscilla Seybold

Lucky Lanes Junior Bowlers held a special event on March 18, 2017. The day was designated as Priscilla Seybold day. Mrs. Seybold has been very involved with the youth bowling program at Lucky Lanes for more than 40 years. She also helped run the Grape Belt USBC Youth

Association as secretary for close to 30 years. Priscilla has been active in the local adult association as a bowler, league secretary, and association manager for many years as well.


Mrs. Seybold was presented with a special gift, a bowling quilt. The quilt has the logos of the Lucky Lanes Junior Bowlers and the Grape Belt USBC Youth Association, along with other bowling graphics. The presentation took place prior to the start of the youth bowling leagues. Mrs. Seybold's family and friends attended the presentation, along with the youth bowlers and their parents.


Beat the Champ At Lucky Lanes

The finalists for Beat the Champ, WBBZ’s local bowling program, are Bob Senker, Ben Montague, Sean Dietz, Tyler Molina, Tony Dolan, Matt Zasowski, Tim Jensen, Michael Kemp, Brad Bixby, and Sam Carson (alternate).  Qualifying took place Saturday March 11 and Sunday March 12. Taping for the April shows will be 10a on Sunday March 26. Congratulation to Ben and Brad for representing our association so well.

Anne Haase Qualifies for National Tournament

Anne Haase of Dunkirk will be representing New York State USBC women at the National Senior Singles Tournament in Reno, Nevada in August 2017. Last August Anne bowled at Crystle Lanes in Corning, NY where she placed 3rd in her division (50-54). Anne has bowled in this tournament the past 3 years.


Anne has bowled for 35 years at Lucky Lanes on the Bobek's Autotrans team. Although teammates have changed, Anne is an original member of the team dating back to 1982. Her high game is a 256. She has also held various offices in the Wednesday Night Fumble League. She has also been involved with the Lucky Lanes Junior Bowling program and Grape Belt Association. She has served as thye NYS USBC Youth Assistant Regional Director for the NYS USBC Youth tiurnament.


Anne has bowled over the years in local tournaments and has won Women's Singles and Team events. For the past 20 years she has traveled across the state to bowl with her team in the NYS Women's Tournament. She and her sister Mary Erick also bowl doubles and singles together.

2017 Masters & Association Tournaments Set

The DLBA Masters Tournament is scheduled for Saturday April 29 and Sunday April 30 at Hanover Lanes in Silver Creek. Entry form available under Tournaments/Events tab.


The DLBA City Tournament will follow for teams, singles and doubles begiining May 1 and running through May 13. Application forms with time slots are available under Tournament/Events page.


2017 DLBA Banquet Scheduled

The end-of-season banquet is scheduled for Saturday June 3. Location TBD. Drinks/pictures at 6p with dinner at 7. RSVP form will be available.
